Ogden, UT (PRWEB) December 24, 2005

Spanish teachers around the country are getting free online resources and support to help them bring technology into the classroom. Visual Link Spanish, an online Spanish software merchant, has dedicated a spot on their website for Spanish teachers to use portions of their software for use in the classroom.

These lessons include interactive verb conjugation drills and tutorials which correspond to verb lessons taught in class by the teachers. Students can login to the lessons and practice at school or login at home for extra practice and review. The lessons are suitable for high school or junior high Spanish students.

Response from teachers and students has been positive.

In addition to the free verb conjugation lessons, teachers also have crossword and word search generators. These generators allow teachers to put in a list of vocabulary words they are currently studying in class and have them easily inserted in a complete crossword puzzle or word search.

Teachers also receive overhead worksheets, culture stories, vocabulary practices and student tracking of the verb lessons. Dave Clark, owner of Visual Link Spanish, described the lessons as, “…a valuable tool to bring technology into the classroom. Verb conjugation is difficult for a lot of students and these lessons are fun and easy to use. Teachers can also have the students practice with the lessons out of class, which frees up more classroom time to spend on different topics.”

Visual Link Spanish reports seeing great success with their customers using the verb lessons to master Spanish verb conjugation. In providing these lessons as a free resource for teachers and students, they hope to pass on this success in verb conjugation to them.

For more information on the verb lessons and resource provided for Spanish teachers, contact Brock Hadley or visit http://www.spanishprograms.com.

(Vocus) May 14, 2010

Amplify Credit Union today announced that it has completed the purchase of a 58,000 square foot office building at 3600 Parmer Lane in northwest Austin. The building will serve as the future operational headquarters for Amplify, which currently has five locations in Austin and plans to open a sixth site at 607 Congress this summer.

“Adjustments in the commercial real estate market make this an excellent time to expand,” says Paul Trylko, CEO and President of Amplify. “We’ve been looking to consolidate our operations for some time, and when the opportunity arose to purchase this building at such an advantageous price, it fit perfectly with our strategic plan and business needs. The combination of favorable market pricing and a stable roster of existing long-term building tenants at 3600 Parmer allowed us to purchase the building without a net increase in our operating costs.”

Doug Rauls of The Kucera Companies represented Amplify in their purchase of the building. “The building at 3600 W Parmer was the right fit for Amplify in terms of location, size, condition and price.” Rauls adds, “Forward-looking buyers like Amplify that are considering expansion in Austin have a unique opportunity right now to purchase property at attractive prices.”

Amplify will begin migration of several of its departments to the new location in late April. In addition to the purchase of the building on Parmer Lane, Amplify is opening a sixth location at 607 Congress. The grand opening of the downtown location is tentatively scheduled for late summer in 2010.

Carlsbad, Calif. (Vocus/PRWEB) March 02, 2011

As school districts nationwide fight to maintain their arts education funding, the NAMM Foundation reminds school districts and communities to help preserve – or even grow – their music programs by participating in the 2011 Best Communities for Music Education Survey (BCME). The survey is part of NAMM’s ongoing effort to recognize schools across the United States that support music education and provide opportunities for children and young people to learn and grow with music.

Going strong in its 12th year, the Best Communities for Music Education Survey is a nationwide search for communities whose programs exemplify a strong commitment to music education. Established in 1998, BCME recognizes and celebrates schools, their administrators, teachers, board members, parents and students for their support and commitment to music education.

The 2011 survey will remain open through Friday, March 11, 2011 and can be completed at http://www.nammfoundation.org. Each school district or school is allowed to fill out one survey, which must be completed by a school administrator and/or teacher who has access to school and district demographic and budgetary information. A copy of the survey can be downloaded for review at http://www.nammfoundation.org/research/best-communities-music-education-united-states.

The announcement of the BCME final roster will be made on May 4, 2011, during NAMM’s National Wanna Play Music Week, a national celebration of music education and music making.

“This recognition honors – and nurtures – the remarkable accomplishments of educators, students, schools and communities that are committed to quality music education programs,” said Mary Luehrsen, executive director, NAMM Foundation. “Historically, communities that have received the mark of excellence embodied by the Best Communities for Music Education designation have enjoyed increased support for their music programs.”

Participants in the survey answer detailed questions about enrollment, student/teacher ratios, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program, private music lesson participation and other relevant factors in their communities’ music education programs. The responses are verified with district officials and program advisors.

As in the previous years, the 2011 survey will be conducted in collaboration with the Institute for Educational Research and Public Service of Lawrence, Kansas, an affiliate of the University of Kansas.

In conducting the annual survey, the NAMM Foundation is joined by advisory organizations in the fields of music and education: Americans for the Arts, League of American Orchestras, The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, Music for All, Music Teachers National Association, National Guild For Community Arts Education, Yamaha Corporation of America, Young Audiences, National PTA and VH1 Save The Music Foundation.

About The NAMM Foundation

The NAMM Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to advancing active participation in music making across the lifespan by supporting scientific research, philanthropic giving and public service programs from the international music products industry.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) January 3, 2007

Across the country, people are putting their time and energy into private music and dance lessons, and they are searching more and more for their teachers online. According to San Diego-based Click For Lessons, a service that matches music, dance, art, acting, and language teachers with potential students, thousands of requests for lessons have poured in since the site launched a year ago.

“In 2006, we saw over 200,000 students request lessons. Not only were parents requesting lessons for their kids, but we also saw a significant increase in adults wanting to learn a new artistic hobby,” says Steven Cox, president and CEO. He expects use to increase in 2007 — there are already over 50,000 requests per month nationally, and the site is little more than a year old.

The top five major metropolitan areas were New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Cox’s own San Diego. Here are the top ten types of lesson requests across the nation:

Piano lessons – 12.6%

Voice lessons – 9.6 %

Hip hop dance – 9.0%

Guitar lessons – 6.1%

Salsa dancing – 5.2%

Belly dance – 4.7%

Acting classes – 3.8%

Violin lessons – 3.7%

Ballroom dance – 3.5%

Drum lessons – 3.4%

The site (http://www.ClickForLessons.com) was founded in late 2005 when Cox, an internet executive and musician, saw how other musicians were struggling to make ends meet and had to supplement their income by teaching lessons. Yet this income was diminished because music schools skimmed large fractions of music lesson fees off the top, leaving little for the teachers. He wanted to come up with a fair way for teachers to find students, set their own schedules and terms of teaching, and keep their earnings for themselves. The site matches teachers with students, who submit their requests for free.

With thousands teachers registered through the site, Click For Lessons staff took a closer look at developing trends. “2006 taught us that people everywhere are open to learning new skills, that they are looking for an affordable way to do it, and that they are also willing to access the internet more and more to find a local teacher these days,” says Cox. “We hardly do any advertising, so this data is a testament to the power of internet use today and word-of-mouth in the artistic community.”

Nashville, TN (PRWEB) October 2, 2007

Gibson Guitar, http://www.gibson.com/ , the world’s premier musical instrument manufacturer and leader in music technology, launched its newest electric guitar model today, the Gibson ES-339, a traditional semi-hollow body guitar in the alluring size of a Gibson Les Paul electric. This new electric guitar, which delivers the singing sustain and all of the characteristic nuances of the classic ES-335 Gibson semi-hollowbody guitar including the shape, resonant tone, hardware and more in the versatile size of a Les Paul, will be available exclusively through online guitar and musical instrument store Musician’s Friend http://www.musiciansfriend.com/ and its affiliates through the end of 2007.

The Gibson ES-339 electric guitar will prove to be a holiday gift favorite for beginning and amateur to professional and advanced guitar players of all types. Hailing from the Gibson Custom Shop in Memphis, TN, the hollow body guitar is incredibly versatile due to its unique design. Gibson’s original semi-hollowbody guitar was the famed ES-335, which was created back in 1958 to provide the perfect combination of solidbody and hollowbody features. With a solid maple block running down the center of its thin hollow body, the ES-335 provides the robust, resonant tone of a hollow body electric guitar while delivering the sustain and feedback resistance of a solid body. Gibson’s hybrid design became known as a semi-hollowbody guitar and remains a perennial favorite of players of nearly all styles of music.

While the ES-339 Video About the Gibson ES-339 features smaller body dimensions, it sacrifices none of the huge semi-hollowbody tone that makes the ES-335 universally appealing. The craftsmen at the Gibson Custom Shop in Memphis managed to shave several inches off the traditional semi-hollow body design while retaining perfect proportions that look classy and natural. All the features guitarists love about the ES-335 are present and accounted for on the ES-339 including a pair of ’57 Classic Humbucker pickups that deliver full-bodied tone with rich midrange and singing sustain, as well as tulip-head tuners, nickel guitar hardware, ABR-1 bridge, stop tailpiece, dot fingerboard inlays, and lacquer finish which make the guitars look like they came right out of 1958.

Gibson also included the mounting of the output jack on the side of the guitar instead of on top to keep the guitar cable out of the way. The 339 also sports Gibson’s new Memphis Tone Circuit, which preserves the high frequencies no matter where you adjust the guitar’s volume control. The Memphis Tone Circuit gives the 339 a beautiful, open tonal spectrum at any volume.

The ES-339 is available in two guitar neck sizes. The first, a 30/60 neck has the slim, wide feel of an early ’60s Gibson, with an extra .030-inches of depth–perfect for today’s faster guitar playing styles. The second, a heftier ’59 neck profile, is also available for guitarists who prefer a chunkier neck but still enjoy fast, smooth playing action.

The ES-339, comes with a hard shell guitar case, has an MSRP of $ 2,821, is offered in three vintage-style finishes–Antique Red, Antique Vintage Sunburst, and Light Caramel Burst and is only available through online guitar store Musician’s Friend and its affiliates including Guitar Center.com, Music123.com, Guitarsale.com and PrivateReserveGuitars.com.

Want to be the next Shakira or Justin Timberlake? Then you’re not alone, as singing lessons were the No. 1 requested lesson of 2005.

That’s according to the just-released 2005 Top 10 Hottest Lesson Requests. The list, compiled by ClickForLessons.com, surveyed more than 3,000 students nationwide who requested lessons from all areas of the arts — including music, dance, singing, acting, art, and language.

Nearly one out of four students expressed interest in voice lessons. The next four most popular lessons requested were piano, acoustic guitar, hip-hop dance, and violin. Electric guitar, belly dancing, acting, salsa and Spanish lessons rounded out the list.

“This list gives us insight as to what Americans are selecting as creative outlets for expression,” said Click For Lessons Co-Founder and CEO Steven Cox. “We had some surprises this year, including Hip-Hop dance at no. 4 and belly dancing at no. 7. We’re also seeing a trend for a more global experience that includes foreign languages, and cultural-centered dance.”

Cox attributes the high placement of the dancing categories to the popularity of rap/hip-hop radio stations and TV shows such as ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.

Cox, a singer/songwriter, and entrepreneur in San Diego, Calif., founded the company in June after seeing the frustration many teachers had in finding students. Within five months, the company quickly expanded with members in over 400 cities. The site is free for students and teacher listings begin at $ 12.95 a month—although teachers are allowed to sample the service for free and receive up to two referrals monthly.
